1) We have covered a lot of ground so far in this class. Out of all of the concepts we've covered, what has been the most difficult for you to grasp? What has been the easiest? Why?
2) What strategies have helped you keep up with the material in this fast-moving course? Is there anything you do inside or outside of class that helps you?
3) This course will continue to move at a quick pace. What are some good strategies that are already being used in class to help you understand the material? What improvements could be made in class to better help you understand the material?
1. The most difficult concept for me to grasp was factoring. This was because I've never done factoring before and since there was more than one way of factoring, I was confused. The easiest concept was transforming word problems into equations because I completely understood that concept and I understood how to plug in variables into equations to solve a word problem.
ReplyDelete2. Most of the time, I would understand what I'm learning in math however when I don't understand I review what I did in math class at home and try some extra problems on my own. If I still don't understand the concept than I either e-mail Mr. Jobe or find him in school to ask him about it.
3. I think the way Mr. Jobe uses examples during class is a good way of understanding concepts. For example, I understood the properties better when he used different people as examples. I also try my best to focus during class because math is something that one has to understand to enjoy it. I don't think there are many improvements required for this class because I fully understand the material the way that Mr. Jobe is already teaching it to us. If I don't, then I ask Mr. Jobe about it.
1. The most difficult concept to grasp was the solving for a variable. The easiest one was charting since it came to me naturally and was simple
ReplyDelete2. All I did to keep up was to keep reading the questions, if I did memorize the questions. It was easier for me to remember
3. It is great that we are doing things step by step and that we have classroom activities. I think it will be better if we could do more kind of scavenger hunts since everybody got competitive
1. Most difficult chapter was chapter that you had to find out if there are no solutions. Because sometimes when I get stuck on one problem, I think it is no solution but actually there is a answer.
ReplyDeleteEasiest chapter was factoring. It is hard to solve those kind of problems but it is very simple and easy to understand. Because it only involves math.
2. My strategies were finding the way to solve easier and understand that problem better. And also solving same kind of problem over and over again. Because that makes you solve problems quicker and more accurate. Worksheet that the teacher gives us at the beginning of the class helped me a lot.
3. What I would do is solve the problem that we learned in class that day and try to understand deeper as you solve the problem. And also try to find a shortcut or easier way to solve.
1. The most difficult concept for me was finding no solutions in the word problem. It was hard because I wasn't sure if the problem is a solution or not a solution so I had to double check the answer. The most easiest part was factoring because it was easy for me to understand and also I don't really like word problem so it was easy for me.
ReplyDelete2. The strategies that helped me keep up was that I reviewed over and over and I asked question if I didn't understand.
3. Good strategies that were used in the class was he let us practice more by giving worksheet at the beginning of the class and also gave a good example for each problems. Some improvements that can be made is that we could learn many different kinds of short cuts too make our problems easy and fast.
1. I think so far the most difficult pages in the textbook was the word problems. Those type of questions are very complicating and also it is very frustrating to answer. In the other hand, the easiest was the area problems. You just get the information, make a chart, then just make a equation to solve it. I think that was the easiest part of the book.
ReplyDelete2. As to coming to strategies, the only thing I did is review quizzes, review the text book. That is the only strategy I used. I also asked my tutor and review and solved more problems.
3. The strategy I would just review before time, and I would ask my tutor to review all my materials so I would understand when Mr.Jobe explains me the chapter.
1). The most grasp was probably word problem. The words are so hard and confusing to understand. The charts were very hard! I hate it!!! I think the chart problem or word problem is hard to understand for the people who doesn't have English language as first mother language. My grammar skill is not really good so I think that's the reason why I am having a hard time in word problem. The easiest thing was factoring. I think factoring is the easiest since you can check the answer right away.
ReplyDelete2). Math help club or my tutor sometimes help me but I think working by myself hard is the best. Sometimes Mr.Jobe also helps when I come to class to get some help during break. I think it really helps except I don't have time to get help.
3). The strategy to help me to understand through classes might be getting help or concentrate my best. Except sometimes, Mr.Jobe does give a lot of work, and it's so fast that I can't understand very well. My tutor helps me a lot but I think I have to try more hard by myself.
1. The most difficult concept for me to grasp was word problems. Sometimes, the word problems are confusing to understand and I struggle to write out the equation. However, the easiest part was factoring and doing FOIL. I am confident about factoring and FOIL because I think I know it very well and it's easy to understand.
ReplyDelete2. Some strategies that helped me was to review the tests and quizzes. I also have a tutor that helps me with math and I ask him questions about what I'm not sure about. Also, last summer I went to a hagwon and I think they really helped me a lot. Before tests or quizzes, I would review my homework and class work and solve some problems on the text book.
3. Some good strategies that I use is reviewing the text book and all of my work. I would also ask my tutor a lot until I understand the material fully. Some improvements I can make to better understand the material is maybe previewing ahead on the chapters so I don't have any trouble understanding the chapters we are going to learn.
1: The hardest part for me was solving for variables. I didn't know if I was allowed to do something that I wanted to do. The easiest part was charting.
ReplyDelete2: I always double check and make sure I didn't make any stupid mistakes.
3: I need to start packing the night before I start school and I must making sure I have all my homework.
1) We have covered a lot of ground so far in this class. Out of all of the concepts we've covered, what has been the most difficult for you to grasp? What has been the easiest? Why?
ReplyDeleteThe most difficult concept that I have come through this year was time, rate, distance chart. I had confused me the most in the chapters. For example, when we had to calculate time when someone left and someone left sometimes later. I first had hard time getting the time and distinguishing which had each time. All the other charts were easy enough, but the time rate distance chart was more confusing than the area. Some of the questions, it was easier not to use the charts. The hardest concept throughout the semester was the equations because it was pretty much straight forward. It was minus, plus, simple calculations. The only thing we had to do was to find the unknown variable in the given domain which was just dividing.
2) What strategies have helped you keep up with the material in this fast-moving course? Is there anything you do inside or outside of class that helps you?
Inside of the class, I always try to participate as much as possible and ask questions whenever I have any sort of doubt on anything I am going over. Outside of class at home, I always do couple of extra practice on the section I don't really get. I also do the homework on the day I get them so that my lesson memory is still fresh and in my mind. I have looked over the test and quizzes especially the ones that I got wrong. Of course, during the class, I tried to pay attention and follow along and gather myself when I get side tracked.
3) This course will continue to move at a quick pace. What are some good strategies that are already being used in class to help you understand the material? What improvements could be made in class to better help you understand the material?
I think good strategy is when Mr.Jobe uses people as examples because it's so visual and we can really see and draw it in our heads. Also I think it helps me when Mr.Jobe gives us a long and hard part of the text book as class work to go over so we get the concept in our head before we step out of the house. I think I could take notes on the things that I had struggled a bit and go home and do them over so I know exactly and I know it on top of my head.
1) I thought that the most difficult lesson we learned was when we used cost, income, value graph problems to get a solution or to find what type of no solution they have. It was because it made it hard to determine whether some problems might have no solution due to not enough information or it would end up having a solution. The easiest we learned was transforming formulas to a certain variable that was shown in the equation. It was easy because the problems were first very short as in length, and they were easy to solve through the steps we have learned.
ReplyDelete2) My strategy of keeping up with the fast material is personally just paying a lot of attention during class and concentrating on the subject, not on other thoughts. I do not have any other classes outside of school that helps me.
3) I think participating in class and doing all the homework for the day would be the only way to help understand the materials. I could make improvements by reviewing some of the materials at home by using the school textbook.
